  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 donuts 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 large egg

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup milk

¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

2 tbsp melted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the apple mixture:

1 cup finely chopped apples

1 tbsp brown sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

1 tsp lemon juice

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

12 tbsp milk

¼ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Toss chopped apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Sauté over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until softened. Let cool.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.

3. In another bowl, mix egg, sugar, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla.

4. Combine wet and dry mixtures. Gently fold in cooked apples.

5. Preheat and grease waffle iron. Spoon ¼–⅓ cup of batter per section. Cook 3–4 minutes until golden.

6. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create glaze. Drizzle over warm waffle donuts and serve.

Notes

These waffle donuts are freezer-friendly—just skip the glaze until serving.

For added crunch, mix in chopped pecans or walnuts.

Try caramel sauce instead of glaze for a richer finish.
