Christmas Crack is a salty-sweet holiday bark made with saltines, quick homemade toffee, and melted chocolate. This recipe is fast, freezer-friendly, and perfect for gifting or indulging.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

40 saltine crackers

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional toppings: crushed peppermint, sprinkles, sea salt, chopped nuts

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment or foil. Lay out saltines in a single layer.

2. Melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once boiling, let it bubble undisturbed for 3 minutes.

3. Pour the toffee mixture over the saltines and spread evenly. Bake for 5 minutes.

4. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit 2 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.

5. Add toppings and let cool completely. Chill in fridge until set. Break into pieces and store.

Notes

Boil the toffee for exactly 3 minutes; undercooked toffee won’t set.

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature or 2 months in the freezer.
