Delightful cherry crumble bars that are simple to make, perfect for family desserts or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
  5. Spread the cherry mixture evenly over the crust.
  6. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the cherries.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the cherries are bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool before slicing into bars and serving.

Notes

These bars can be enhanced with different fruits or nuts. Serve warm with ice cream for a delightful treat.
