  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  6. Roll out to about 1 inch thick, and cut into rounds.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Use cold butter for the best results. Don’t over-knead the dough. For extra flavor, you can add herbs or cheese to the dough.
