- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
- Roll out to about 1 inch thick, and cut into rounds.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Use cold butter for the best results. Don’t over-knead the dough. For extra flavor, you can add herbs or cheese to the dough.
