- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, food coloring, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
For an extra touch, sprinkle sea salt on top before baking. You can also use white chocolate or peanut butter chips for variations.
