Ingredients
8 oz dark chocolate (60–70%), chopped
½ cup unsalted butter
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1½ tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking powder
½ cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Melt dark chocolate and butter together until smooth.
3. Whisk eggs and sugars until pale and thick.
4. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder.
6. Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients.
7. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
8. Scoop dough onto baking sheet.
9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until shiny and crackly.
10. Cool on tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
For extra shine, don’t overbeat the eggs.
Chill dough if the kitchen is warm to prevent spreading.
Add sea salt flakes on top before baking for a salty-sweet twist.
Try peppermint extract or peanut butter chips for variation.
