Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 package (16 ounces) rye bread or pumpernickel party rounds
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and pork sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the skillet. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and the mixture is well combined.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Spread the mixture onto the rye bread or pumpernickel rounds.
  6. Place the prepared appetizers on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and heated through.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

Feel free to add a pinch of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños for a spicy kick. These appetizers also freeze well; prepare them up to the baking step, freeze, and bake directly from frozen, adding extra cooking time.
