- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 package (16 ounces) rye bread or pumpernickel party rounds
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and pork sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the skillet. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and the mixture is well combined.
- Remove from heat.
- Spread the mixture onto the rye bread or pumpernickel rounds.
- Place the prepared appetizers on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and heated through.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Feel free to add a pinch of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños for a spicy kick. These appetizers also freeze well; prepare them up to the baking step, freeze, and bake directly from frozen, adding extra cooking time.
