Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tub whipped topping (or 2 cups homemade whipped cream)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare cake mix as directed using eggs and oil.
2. Pour batter into greased 9×13 pan and bake according to box.
3. Let cake cool slightly, then poke holes all over using the back of a wooden spoon.
4. In a saucepan, heat crushed pineapple with juice and sugar until bubbly.
5. Pour pineapple mixture over cake and spread evenly.
6. Chill cake in fridge for at least 3 hours.
7. Top with whipped topping before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, garnish with maraschino cherries or toasted coconut.
Use stabilized homemade whipped cream if making ahead.
