  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. While the bars are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together brown butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla bean paste until smooth.
  9. Once the bars are done, let them cool for a few minutes before cutting them into bars.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bars before serving.
