Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Grease a baking dish and layer the torn croissant pieces evenly.
- If using, sprinkle the ham or sausage over the croissants, followed by the cheese and green onions.
- Pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring all croissant pieces are soaked.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
- Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and edges are slightly crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
