An easy chocolate pudding cake recipe that forms its own gooey fudge sauce as it bakes. Moist, simple, and perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup milk

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping)

1 1/4 cups hot water

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

3. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Pour into dish.

4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle over batter.

5. Slowly pour hot water over top. Do not stir.

6. Bake 35 minutes or until the top is set and cracks slightly.

7. Cool 5–10 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Don’t stir after pouring the water—this creates the pudding layer.

Can be made in individual ramekins for serving.
