- 8 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
- 8 breakfast sausage links
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Cook the breakfast sausage links according to the package instructions and set aside.
- Remove the crusts from the slices of bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Place a sausage link at one end of a slice of flattened bread and roll it up tightly. Secure with a toothpick if necessary. Repeat with remaining bread and sausages.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each rolled-up sausage in the egg mixture until fully coated.
- Cook the rolled sausages in the skillet until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove toothpicks if used.
- Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For reheating, use a toaster oven or skillet on low heat.
