Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll the dough out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread softened cream cheese over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar evenly on top.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or let rise for another 30 minutes before baking.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. For the icing, mix powdered sugar with maple syrup and a little milk until smooth.
  12. Drizzle the icing over warm cinnamon rolls.
