- 4 cups flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 ¼ teaspoons yeast (1 packet)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup butter (melted)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread softened cream cheese over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar evenly on top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or let rise for another 30 minutes before baking.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- For the icing, mix powdered sugar with maple syrup and a little milk until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over warm cinnamon rolls.
Notes
Make sure your yeast is fresh for proper rising and consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for variations.
